Released as a single in 2000, Californication reached No. 1 on Billboards Mainstream Rock and Modern Rock charts. The song remains one of RHCPs signature recordings, alongside alternative rock classics like Under the Bridge, Scar Tissue, Otherside, Cant Stop, and Dani California.
The Californication album marked the return of guitarist John Frusciante and became one of the most successful releases of the bands career. Featuring hits like Scar Tissue, Otherside, and Around the World, the album helped define the Red Hot Chili Peppers melodic alternative rock sound at the turn of the millennium.

Lyrics:
Psychic spies from China try to steal your minds elation
An little girls from Sweden dream of silver screen quotation
And if you want these kind of dreams, its Californication
Its the edge of the world and all of Western civilization
The sun may rise in the east at least it settled in a final location
Its understood that Hollywood sells Californication
Pay your surgeon very well to break the spell of aging
Celebrity skin, is this your chin or is that war youre waging?

Marry me, girl, be my fairy to the world, be my very own constellation
A teenage bride with a baby inside getting high on information
And buy me a star on the boulevard, its Californication
Space may be the final frontier but it was made in a Hollywood basement
And Cobain, can you hear the spheres singing songs off Station to Station?
And Alderaans not far away, its Californication
Born and raised by those who praise control of population
Well, everybodys been there and I dont mean no vacation
